iPhone photography – my new thang….
Back in May 2011, I wrote a product impression on the FujiFilm X100 and how it transformed my “everyday” photography from carrying pounds of gear on my back, to carrying one small awesome camera. Well, now I have an even another smaller package.
When I visited PhotoPlusExpo last year, my friend Mornee Sherry from Nik Software showed me a few photos on his phone that he took during his recent vacation. Of course I was blown away by the photos, but what blew me out of the water was that they were all captured by his iPhone! Mornee showed me the pocket-sized Olloclip Lens he attached on his phone to get him the amazing vacation photos. The Olloclip is three lenses in one — Fisheye, Wide Angle and Macro.
Not only did he capture the photos with Olloclip on his iPhone, he ended them on his phone as well with the help of a few applications. Needless to say, I was very impressed, and being a gadget freak that I am, I ordered the lens while in NYC so that it would be waiting for me when I returned home to DC. I’ve been constantly taking iPhone photos from the moment the lens arrived. Putting on the Olloclip is easy and takes seconds, and slides neatly back to the pocket and done!
The quality of the Olloclip is amazing – true quality lens and the 3 in 1 is the best of all – super compact yet not compromising quality of glass.
I recently added another great little gadget to the iPhone photography hobby I developed – the Grif iPhone 4s Tripod Mount & Stand. Combined with the lens and post-production applications that are very affordable for the iPhone/iPad – the Tripod Mount & Stand is a perfect tool to capture every day photos when you don’t feel like using your small pocket-size point-and-shoot camera!
You don’t have to spend more than $10 to use some fantastic iPhone apps for post production. My two personal favorites are Snapseed and Photogene2. I also really like AutoStich for panorama shots and TurboCollage for creating collages within the iPhone, which you’ll see below.
