Take the Chinatown Apex Bus. It’s $35 round trip and they have great bus stop locations in DC and NY. People may want to eat an early breakfast or bring a snack to tide them over till lunch. There is a restroom on the bus and there is normally a stop for people to go to the restroom or get a snack.
Bus schedule: https://www.apexbus.com/BuyTicket.aspx?from=20&to=25&fs=01%2f23%2f2012&ts=01%2f23%2f2012&tt=2
The Chinatown DC Apex Bus stop is at 715 H St NW, next to MatchBox Restaurant (7th & H St). Directions: https://www.apexbus.com/Directions.aspx
PARKING: Nearby garages + surface lot off H & 9th St (across from The Renaissance Washington Hotel). Ensure you can get your car back around 10:30pm or so. It could cost $20-25 for all-day parking.
METRO: Gallery Place/Chinatown metro station nearby. Metro station opens 5am on Mondays and close at Midnight.
ALTERNATE PARKING:It would be great if someone who is going on the trip lives in a place that’s close to a metro stop or bus stop and has free or low cost parking.
DEPARTURE TO NYC: Be at bus stop by 7:30am and leave around 8am. “For people who bought tickets online, they have to arrive in the station at least 30 minutes prior to their departure time to guarantee their seats. For all other customers, all seats are served on first-come, first-served basis.”
ARRIVAL:
The bus should arrive in NY around Noon at 430 7th Ave and 34th St (near Foot Action store) and the B&H Photo-Video-Pro Audio store (420 9th Avenue, NY) is only two blocks from our bus drop off point. Meet at B&H at 12:30pm, have a store tour by B&H representative who will also accompany us for 2 hours photo walk, answering all your technical questions regarding gear, camera, lighting and more! – courtesy of B&H Photo Video
LUNCH: Between 1:45pm to 2:00pm. We will choose a place for lunch (and will likely see some possible places to eat on the way to B&H).
PHOTO WALK:
option 1: we roam free, see what we like and where our cameras will take us together.
option 2: From about 2:30pm till about 5:00pm. Suggested route: Head Northwest toward the Javits Convention Center area near the water, then go to The High Line (http://www.thehighline.org/). People could grab a quick bite to eat during or after the photo walk, or get a snack on the way back to the bus stop.
DEPARTURE TO DC: We should be back to the bus stop at 430 7th Ave and 34th St (near Foot Action store) by 6pm and leave at the 6:30pm and get back to DC around 10:30pm.

Customer Comments:
Clarification: For lunch we’ll probably start it between 1:45 to 2pm and go till 2:30 or so, but it’s all relative. So our photo walk may start between 2:30 to 2:45pm. We’ll go with the flow and make it work. Looking FWD to this.
